Arline LaMear has been the Librarian at the Columbia River Maritime Museum since 1997. Prior to that, she was a school librarian in Virginia for 21 years and served as State President of the school librarians’ association. She is also the author of a children's book, "Lewis and Clark, the Astoria Cats."
Arline earned her bachelor's degree from Occidental College and a masters from James Madison University.
Her volunteer experience in Astoria includes service on the Astoria Planning Commission and the Astoria Library Board, Clatsop County Commission on Children and Families, and as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). She also served as president of the Astoria chapters of both the American Association of University Women and the Women's Political Caucus.
Arline and her husband, Cliff, have a blended family of five children and are raising their grandson, Bill.
MEET THE MAYOR. Astoria Mayor Arline LaMear will hold “Meet the Mayor” community meetings on the first Wednesday of each month in 2015. All meetings will be from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at Astoria City Hall, 2nd Floor, in either the Council Chambers or Walldorf Conference Room (depending on the number of attendees), 1095 Duane Street. The first meeting will be held on January 7th where the public is invited to share comments, questions or concerns with the Mayor. The meeting schedule is as follows:
