Known for its historical distinction as the first settlement west of the Rocky Mountains and its present-day nickname of "Little San Francisco," the City of Astoria is now seeking a Community Development Director.
The Community Development Department is responsible for economic development, land use planning, zoning administration, building inspection, historic preservation, code enforcement, and the Urban Renewal Districts. The Department provides staff support to the Planning Commission (APC), the Historic Landmarks Commission (HLC) , the Design Review Committee (DRC), Astoria Development Commission (ADC), and the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee (TSC).
The Department administers the City Comprehensive Plan, the Development Code, and the Zoning map. The Department also administers the City’s Building Inspection Program.

Salary range: $85,185-103,543. Starting salary is dependent upon experience and qualifications. The City also includes an excellent benefit package.
